ATTENTION HARRY POTTER FANS! IT'S MY FIRST BLOGFEST!

I know there are a lot of bloggers into Harry Potter. I know at least ten of you. And as every Harry Potter-phile knows on November 19th part one of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows hits the movie theaters. It should be an amazing film. Visit some of the exciting clips at http://www.mugglenet.com.

Not just for the obvious reason am I telling you about this, I will be leaving in less that two weeks for Orlando, Florida, where the new Wizarding World of Harry Potter is now open at Universal Studios. If you haven't gone to the site it's totally worth visiting. http://www.universalorlando.com/harrypotter/ I have been dying to visit since it opened in June. Since I am not a lover of summers in Florida, I opted to wait until Thanksgiving week.

I will be spending almost all of my time there for the ultimate HP fix. Now it wouldn't be nice of me if I didn't share it with my blogger friends. So, I will be posting pics and hopefully videos for the ten days I will be there ... that is if I can figure out how to do it on my camera. So make sure you check in daily.

Now for the Blogfest!

In honor of HP, I would like to have an HP blogfest. In 500 words, I would like you to create a scene with any of the HP characters from any of the seven books. It could be anything you want. Funny, magical, serious, etc. And for an added twist, let's have it set during the holidays. Christmas or Thanksgiving.

I will choose the top five, and post the finalists. Then I will give everyone a chance to vote on their favorite.

First prize will be a fantastic gift from the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. It will be special, not just anything. I want the person who wins to be very happy. You'd be amazed at the merchandise they have for sale.

There will also be prizes for second and third place.

On December 11th, I would like you to post your entries. But first leave a comment with your blog or email address if you'd like to participate. You have over a month to write something wonderful.

Please inform your other HP friends of my contest. I would really appreciate it. I would love to meet more fellow HP addicts. This is my first blogfest and I want to do it right.

I hope you are as excited about this as I am. Show your enthusiasm by please leaving a comment.

I'll keep you informed as we get closer to the date. Thanks.

Please sign up and leave your link here, so that we can all view your posts! I hope everyone is as excited as I am! Go all out and have a blast!

I'm there, of course. I already know what scene I will write. I wish all of the contestants a great time.

Sadly, I haven't read HP ever. Not one book. I know. I know. It's a travisty. And with NaNo I will not have time to finish the first book and to give it the attention it needs. :( So I can't participate in your first blogfest. I will so be there for your next one. Have a great time in Florida.

I'll participate. I have to think what I'll write though.

After Goblet of Fire, I wrote some fanfiction while waiting for OotP. I posted it on some fanfiction sites and got a lot of praise. I'm pretty sure my storyline sucked, but I'm great at mimicking other authors' voices/ writing styles.

I'll have to go back and read Harry Potter though, so I can refresh myself.

Lol ... any excuse, eh Quinn?!!!

Yup ... another HP fan here Michael. I was a moderator on HarryPotterForums.co.uk until it closed, and am still an occasional visitor to a small forum run for a few of the most stalwart members. I also regularly contributed to the rpg which attempted to predict the shape of the sixth book (shows you how long ago it was). Ummm ... anyway ... count me in!
Bearing in mind the apparent ratio of genders in the blogosphere, is it significant that all three self confessed fans are male?! :o

Sorry Jodi,

We'll miss you. When you're ready start with the first book.

Roland,
Thanks for participating. I'm really looking forward to reading you entry.

Quinn,

I was hoping you'd join in, I know you are a huge fan.

Dominic,

Welcome. I'm glad you are a HP fan, too! This will be great having you join us.

I am hoping to re-read Deathly Hallows before the movie. I really need to start, but I have been so incredibly busy keeping up with everyone's blog and finishing final edits on my first book, querying, etc. I don't believe I will get to it .... but I'll try.

Thanks guys,

Michael

Totally in! The only thing I like about the weather getting colder is I get to pull out my Hufflepuff scarf! (every test says I'm actually a Gryffindor, but I like the Hufflepuff inclusiveness, so there you have it)--made of soft 'Dale of Norway' yarn (long story and I know that makes me particularly twisted to like it that my Harry Potter scarf was made by a porn star *cough*)

Anyway--I cut my writing teeth on Harry Potter fan fiction. A bunch of my stuff is still out there at HPANA.com under my screen name Gnargles&Snorkaks. I will try to write something brand new, but there is a Marauder era story (some 300,000 words) that has several Christmas scenes if I can't manage something fresh--I will let you know if it's new or recycled...

Hart,

I'm so glad you're in.... I was hoping! I have a cool HP scarf too! Mine is Ravenclaw. All the tests put me in that house. Which I really like. Ravenclaws are smart and would most likely have tons of writers, It's also the house that seems to get the least coverage until the last book.

300,00 WORDS! WOW! That's impressive. You must write like Jo....

I'll take care of advertising for you, and I'll leave the signing up for and writing for the blogfest to erica! :0) christy I'm excited to see what she comes up with! (and the rest of you, too!)

Um, christy???!!! Okay, I'll do it, but it will probably be organized by my 9-year-old, whose read more of them than I have. I have, however, seen all the movies several times, so hopefully that helps me!! I'm looking forward to reading/seeing more about your trip (and so is Zach).

This sounds like so much fun. Unfortunately, I won't be able to participate this time, but I will post your banner on my blog to help advertise. I will email you about the linky tool so everyone can go around and read each other's if you like.

Have fun! I love HP!!!

I'm IN!

I went to Harry Potter world at the end of August and I PROMISE you won't be disappointed. It was an incredible experience.

Do you know how to set up a MR. linky? It would be great if you did because then we can all hop around and check out each other's posts before you post the five finalists!

NExt week a few friends and I are having a Harry Potter themed week to celebrate the release.

I'd love if you stopped by!

Hi, you've captured my imagination here, and I'd love to join! I was recommended over by Dominic - so all due credit there! I'm buzzing with ideas already, Cheers for running such a great blogfest! -Em
(My blog: emmademattos@blogspot.com - I've only just started so I'm a bit of a newbie to the scene!)

I love this idea so much I'm entering before writing my scene. Why? Because I have that much faith in myself to actually follow through. Why? Because I love this blogfest idea so much.
And I could go on in that cycle, but instead I'll put my kids to bed while I think about my scene.
Cheers!

Written and scheduled. I look forward to reading everyone's!

Interesting idea for a blogfest! Not sure if I'll have the time nor HP knowledge to participate, but have added this to my Blogfests page of my blog. :)
