SIZZLING SUMMER FUN AND NEW FRIENDS!

As summer is beginning to sizzle in Chicago and the temps are rising into the 90's this city has become alive!

Not too long ago I was one of only a few skirting the lakefront in my grave attempt to keep fit and tan. Winds howling dropped the temps by almost ten degrees from just a few blocks west. Well this week's warm temps flushed EVERYONE out. The lakefront is a buzz with all kinds of life. Skate boarders, rollerbladers, joggers, bikers, jogging parents pushing baby strollers, and power walkers.

And of course with all this new life opened many stands opened offering everything from ice cream to protein smoothies. Grilled everything scents the air with tempting foods. This is what Chicago is all about in the summer. Especially this year with winter hanging on for SO long.

I hope my northern friends are experiencing their cities coming back to life. Let me know. I hope we are all in the sunshine now!

Today I would also like to welcome my new blogger friends to my family. I have been so busy lately, I must apologize to my new friends for taking so long and for not visiting as many of them as I would like. I hope to rectify that this week.

So WELCOME ...

Carolina, Wendy, Marina, Stephanie, Jen, Barbara, San, Libby, The Thumber, Renate ( thanks for the lovely comment), Pam, Ann, Donna, Dave, Eva, Julie, and Nicole. I do hope I get to know all of you more personally in the next few weeks.

As you all can see I am only nine friends short of 400, so you know I must do something fun for that. The moment I reach that magic number we will celebrate the occasion.

Have a wonderful Wednesday everyone!

Congrats on nearly reaching 400 followers! I too am teetering on the precipice of 400. Summer has arrived here (finally!) as well and I'm loving it. It felt like it would never arrive. I live in the country so I don't get to see my city come alive, but I do get to see the countryside come alive. Baby animals abound everywhere! I love it!

Almost at 400! Wow - congrats, Michael!

Glad to hear summer has hit the city. I love it when the streets come to live again.

I love the lakefront in Chicago. You're so lucky to be able to enjoy it on a daily basis!

Congrats on all the new followers.

Ooh, tantalizingly close to that 400!

The Swallows have arrived here, which should herald Summer - today we are lashed with torrential rain and high winds...there you go!

Enjoy your sunshine!

Almost 400! Congratulations!

I don't live too close to any city out here, but I am up north and it's supposed to be 95. After two months of rain, it's about time! Enjoy the Chicago lakefront, you're lucky!

You'll hit four hundred by tomorrow! And no idea what to do for a celebration. I don't even know what to do for my own milestone this week. I don't even know what to name my current manuscript!
Yes, the brain has turned to tapioca as predicted...

Yes! Michael is having a party! 400 guests bringing good chear, and celebration humor. I do hope you have plenty of room and lots of good music. Potluck patio in the sun, what a treat :) This Northern sister of yours has seen glimpses of summer here and has even worn a t-shirt and shorts on one occasion. Slowly but surely, the days are getting warmer and longer.

Our average temp over the last two weeks was 91 degrees. A bit hot for my taste since I loathe sweating.I want my 80s!

Congrats on almost 400 followers!

Its cloudy and rainy again here in Wyoming, we had a few good sunny days at the start of the week. I took my kids swimming for those. Otherwise I wish for 90 degree weather- LOL Have a great day!

Yay for celebrations! That's awesome that you're almost to 400!!! Sounds like Chicago is the place to be right now. Here in Oregon we are finally getting sunshine. The temps are only in the 70's but it's pleasant so I won't complain :)

I like the shirtless men that summertime flushes onto the streets. I saw this one guy from the window at my gym...had like a bodybuilder-type body but always wore his shirt. Well, he took it off and started jogging down the street and all I could do for like five minutes was stare.

A hot dog from a vendor near the ballpark--you're bringing me back, Michael!!

Hope the summer hangs on as long as the winter did. :-)

Glad to see things are warming up in the 'ol Chi town! Reminds me of New York in the summer- we'd take the train up from New Jersey when we were younger. Love all the vendors and stands of pretzels, hot dogs, pizza, ice cream...yum!

Well I know what time of year to visit Chicago! Sounds gorgeous. Sit along there and get lots of story ideas.

We have 10degrees in Queensland today. About as cold as it'll get for winter here. I head off into the northern summer in just a week.

Now you are only 8 away! Michael, how is it that I wasn't following your blog??? Our paths have crossed so often through blogfests and mutual friends. I just clicked to make sure - and I was stunned that I wasn't. I must have always assumed that I was already a follower, hence not clicking to follow.

Chicago sounds lovely right now. I'm a SoCal girl who doesn't get around much. Spoiled by mild winters with drizzle rather than rain. I'm a wimp when it comes to the heat, though. 80 degrees and I'm a whiny mess who has to be indoors with my air conditioning. I do so long to see Chicago. One of these days, I'll make a trip!!

Congratulations on close to 400 followers! I read your hilarious story on Laura's site and I was hoping to bring you closer to your goal, but I can't get to your followers button. I don't know if it's my computer or a problem with blogger, but I'll stop by again tomorrow. Who knows, you may already have 410 by now! Good luck! Julie P.S Nothing beats Chicago in the summer!

Ooh, congrats on almost 400! To think I remember you when you had tiny double digits :D How time flies!

We're diving head-first into winter - my first living somewhere where it actually snows once in a while :O Did I mention I hate the cold *shivers*

Hugs,

Rach

Congratulations almost hitting 400. It won't be long now! Summer is warming up nicely here too. It's great to be able to get out and walk around without bundling up. I even heard fireworks yesterday.
