END OF YEAR.... NO NEW WIPS, BUT HOPEFUL FOR 2018

Hi, All!

First I would like to thank all of you for your well wishes about my recovery. After almost four months of crippling arthritis in my shoulders, arms, and hands, I finally was diagnosed with the correct FORM...

Many of you know that I have gout and have suffered with it for decades. I ASSUMED my new affliction was yet another bout with this horrific disease. But this time, GOUT wasn't the culprit. I contracted an arthritis that usually hits much older people. It's called Polymalgia Rheumatica. It hits in the shoulders and hips. Ugh. Now I am on a light steroid. I can TYPE AGAIN. I can move again, and I can SLEEP again. Granted being on steroids is never good. So I am hopeful I will not be on them for more than a few months. I'll certainly keep you all posted.

This past month all kinds of insecurities have run ramped through my mind. Since my affliction and living in a construction site for over two months with all the problems with contractors, building regulations, and expense, I have had little time to be insecure about my lack of writing. But now the things are calming down, I am missing blogging, missing my connection with all of my extended family, and MISSING WRITING... So, even though I have had a year of all sorts of life's DRAMA, I can begin to focus on writing again. I should be finished with the remodel within a few weeks. YES... by CHRISTMAS... hopefully. I won't enjoy it until my return in the Spring because I need to go back to Florida to heal. Warm weather will help my arthritis and I'll be able to slowly get back into shape.

I hope to be visiting your blogs and immersing myself back into the blogging and writing world. Thanks to Alex and all of you being there for me for SEVEN years now. This community will always have a special place in my heart.

Please drop by Alex's site to read the IWSG posts or even join in with words of encouragement or if you need to vent out your insecurities.....

BIG HUGS TO YOU ALL!!!!!

While having that affliction sucks, at least they know how to treat it. Do your research - what else can you take besides steroids.
Maybe your trip to Florida will be the time you need to heal and reconnect with writing.

I suffer from regular arthritis and understand some of your pain. I hope you don't have to take the steroids for long. Yes, some warm weather will do you good. Now you know why so many old people move to Florida.

So sorry to hear this, Michael. I have some arthritic pain, but I can't imagine the agony you've been going through! I'm glad the doctors figured it out. Take care and praying for you.

I'm glad the remodeling will be done soon, but I'm sorry to here about the arthritis. Arthritis is awful. I hope 2018 is much better, with a lot of high points.

I have arthritis too (thanks, Grandma!!) and the cold makes my joints ache so bad. I hate it. I always tell my husband I was built for sunshine!! But oh well. We make do where we are, right?

I'm glad to hear life is settling down for you. I've missed you in the blogging world.

I'm glad you finally got the correct diagnosis and medicine. And that it helps. I, too, have arthritis with chronic low back pain. Pain meds take the edge off but that's it. At least, I can type. So I hope you will be able to get back to your writing. Best wishes for a greaat 2018.

So true.... I do enjoy cold weather for the holidays, but come January, I am DONE... LOl. Hope you are pain free .... arthritis really is such a horror. But thank God it's not terminal... so we just have to deal with it and do the best we can.

It does, Alex. Sadly, the steroids are the only thing that will work for this. I hope to be off them soon. I may be at the stage now to cut the dosage in half. Here's hoping....

Florida will be great for me. I really need to get out of Chicago and all the remodeling and drama with the contractors... This job is taking far longer that it should have.

Hooray for getting some answers and help! Sorry it took so long and you had to deal with it and construction! And yay, you can type.

(((hugs))) Michael. That arthritis must be terrible. I hope your treatment leads to relief. No fun if you can't do the things you want to. I hope the warmer climes of Florida help tremendously. And those renos. Such big projects. But the end will justify the means, for sure.

Happy Christmas, Michael!
Have a glorious 2018!

Denise :-)

I have been out of the blogging loop way too long. I'm glad to see you are starting to heal; and you have your usual wealth of positive outlook. Once you are recovered, I'm sure the writing will flow smoothly. You have so much energy, even when you are not feeling well, I can't imagine you on steroids, lol.

Take care of yourself Michael. I have missed your internet smiles and presence.

Living in a construction zone twists your head around like the devil in the Exorcist. I speak from first-hand experience. Long story. Long construction period. Happy New Year and good health...that's the most important.

Health issues... There's no sanity or normal when you're in the middle of them. Florida is very gentle on the body, unless you have allergies. ;)

Anything with Polymalgia associated with it has to hurt! So sorry, but glad to hear you have a diagnosis. One step toward relief. Here's to more sleep and more writing this year.
