A SPLIT SECOND COULD CHANGE YOUR LIFE ...

Hi, All,

Welcome to another post for the IWSG! Can you believe it's TWO years already?! Alex J. Cavanaughs' brainchild certainly has given us so much blogger love and support.

How wonderful is this monthly meeting? We can actually express our fears without judgement ... only support. Thank you, Alex.

Anyone can sign up! Just click here.... -http://alexjcavanaugh.blogspot.com/p/the-insecure-writers-support-group.html -

This month's co-hosts are:

Joylene Nowell Butler http://cluculzwriter.blogspot.com/

As many of you already know, I was mowed down by a cyclist exactly two weeks ago. With the head injury I sustained, it created the kind of terror and anxiety no person should have to endure. I let few people know, keeping positive and praying. Not just to heal, but not to lose my magic ... my writing, my artistic talent... Yes, I worried ... BIG TIME.

The concussion had left me with difficulty focusing... dizziness, and sadly lack of interest. I had watched countless hours of TV... more than I had watched in three years! I rarely watch TV. Typing one handed had frustrated me ... keeping me away from all of you ....

Now here's the BUT....

But, each day I managed a bit more... My stubborn, bullheaded self would not give in to this. Yes, I was knocked down and broken, but persevered AS every true writer/artist MUST do... Life is full of obstacles .... some we put there ourselves, but others hit us when we least expect it.

Don't give up my dear friends. Our journey together must keep moving forward no matter what stands in our way.

I feel blessed knowing how your prayers and good wishes HAS HELPED me heal at incredible speed. I hardly believe it myself... I thought I'd be disfigured and not even recognize myself. The first week I jumped from the mirror, hating the image I saw... Now, the bright smile has returned to a ever-so-slightly scared face... even the chip in my tooth doesn't freak me anymore. And the main reason for this...  it's because my mind hasn't been scared. God and my guardian angels had protected their gifts to me.

I am truly blessed to walk away from this with just a broken wrist and a few tiny facial scars. The six inch Frankenstein scar at the top of my forehead will take a year or so to fade. But with a new scar cream the ER nurse suggested I use, it may perform some magic... it did on her.

Thanks again everyone for your warm wishes and prayers. I hope they continue to help. I find out tomorrow whether I'll need surgery on my wrist... I will certainly keep you posted.

Don't forget to visit the other posts for inspiration. I plan to do the best I can. I know you understand if I can't get to most of you. One handed typing is very tiring.

Have a Great day everyone!

So glad you're doing better and that you keep trying to do more each day. You were seriously injured so you shouldn't feel bad that you wanted to just sit and watch TV for awhile. That's probably part of the healing process.

Michael, that is a real blessing! God was watching out for you that day and He's continuing to heal you. I would've worried as well, but I had a concussion years ago in college and remember my head being fuzzy for a while. It does come back though.
Just hang on to that determination!

I'm sorry you're going through this, especially being so worried, but I'm glad you're on the mend. Don't fret about the scars; they add character. ;)

Michael, I didn't know! I've been moving and kind of crazy and haven't been keeping up with the blogosphere. I'm so glad you're okay and that your positive attitude is still shining through.

That accident is not going to keep you down, Michael. We're still praying for a full recovery, so you keep fighting your way back to health.

You are the poster child for will and determination, Michael. I have no doubt you will be back at full throttle and better than ever. As the saying goes, 'You can't keep a good man down.'

Sending healing energies and positive thoughts.

Inch by inch and your recovery will be done faster than you could believe possible.

Like with weight training, you increase the effort just a bit daily. You can do this because the magic within you cannot be dampened by anyone but yourself. And you are a fighter.

May the rest of this year truly be magic for you, Michael.

Determination under the toughest circumstances, love it!

You've got spirit and tenacity, Michael. Perhaps that scar and chipped tooth give you an air of rogue-ishness.

A tooth can be fixed and scars do lessen (my sister had one on her forehead from being rammed at full speed by a drunken female driver). It's good that your mental mode is fighter - that's how we beat the odds.

I'm very sorry to hear about your injuries, glad that at least they are healing swiftly. This sounds like a time to take good care of yourself and give yourself time to recuperate.

Michael, it's a miracle you're okay. I'm SO GLAD that your mind wasn't affected. We would all be so devastated.

And you're *such* a strong spirit, you're inspiring. I wish I had as much strength as you! You've been given some crazy tough punches in life, and you fight back. And SOAR. You're an inspiration to us all.

(And I'm sure the chipped tooth adds character!)

I'm so glad you're feeling better Michael and that your injuries weren't as serious as they could have been. Such a frightening situation! Beautiful post. :)

Scars are only evidence that you've lived and not sat passively on the sidelines. I'm sorry your scars came in the way they did, with the pain and trauma associated with being run over, but you survived. The scar only means your are alive enough to heal! Live on, Michael.

Staying positive will help the mental and physical scars heal. Sending warmest wishes for a full and speedy recover.

I hope you continue to recover, I am recovering myself from a low self esteem but positive I'll get there.

Take care.

All my best to you, Michael. I wish you nothing but the speediest of recoveries. After being through an agonizing year of pain myself, I know how you feel. It does get better. It will get better. Tax yourself a little more each day. I know you will bounce back better than before.

I'm so glad to hear things are getting better. Head injuries take a long time to heal so give it time and you'll be all you again.

I am so glad you are healing Michael.

I noticed your return call a couple hours later - had clients to focus on - and your cherry voice assured me you are doing well. Thanks for that. Good luck with all the intricacies of personal injury. My best wishes follow your journey.

Lovely to know you are not permanently (physically) scarred. I hope all goes well with the consultation. I'd cast a healing spell but I'd end up a Gilderoy Lockhart, lol.

Be well, my friend.

Hi Michael .. it's better to rest immediately after those sorts of set backs .. and am so glad you're feeling easier with life.

The Frankenstein scar and its effect with the magic cream and a pretty nurse ... sounds a good story beginning ..

Look after that one hand! Cheers Hilary

Determination and good old-fashioned stubbornness can accomplish so much. I'm glad you're healing, both mentally and physically. I've had injuries that have terrified me in a similar way, and I understand that panic and fear. Good luck to you and continued healing.

Oh, no! I didn't know about your concussion. I counsel many athletes recovering from concussions and it is HELL, and recovery sometimes seems to take forever. Hang in there, Michael, and swift healing thoughts coming your way.

I will add you to my prayer list and wish you continued healing.
I suffered a concussion 4 years ago and it was one tough thing to recover from. Take it slow...

Oh, wow, Michael! I've been stuck in my own life-full-of-molasses and hadn't heard about your accident. I'm so glad to hear you're bouncing back to your chipper self. :) I am living that sucked into TV hell disinterest so I know what you mean. Neither one of us belong there. Your words here today will help me stand up straighter. Please continue to shine! (BTW, this is the new personna for Laura Eno) ;)

Hoping you have a great recovery. We have a brain injury conference here in SLC every year that I attend. And yes, you definitely have cause to worry, but it sounds like you have a good grip on the seriousness of this kind of trauma.

Michael, Margo and I are sending you plenty of healing thoughts and blessings. I'm so sorry this happened to you, and I'm happy to hear that you're getting back to being your old self.

Hang in there and you'll soon be firing on all cylinders.

Wow! If that's not inspirational, I don't know what is. Your ability to stay positive and focused in the face of so much hardship is nothing short of miraculous. Thank you, Michael.

Falls are never easy to deal with, whether figuratively or literally.

Though it saddens me that you experienced such a thing, it appears you've learned a little more about yourself in the process. Your positivity, your glow, what makes you you is stronger from this...and so are you. Wounds heal. Scars fade. Life's lessons are what we gain and how we grow. And it would appear growth has occurred for you.

Michael - how could God and His angels not protect you when you're so good & always keeping such wonderful perspective? We're all allowed to freak and rage at times, but it's not just you physically that's snapped back so quickly - it's your spirit too.

September 27, 2013

Dear Michael,

I am reading this so long after it happened. I have been so busy that I have not been able to visit other blogs.

I just had to know what happened to you. So I kept going back until I came to a post with an explanation.

I am so glad the angels were watching you.

My daughter would be proud of you for being brave about your new scars. She has a big scar on her chest from her open-heart surgery when she was one week old. And she has a scar in the middle of her forehead from being accidentally dropped by her father on a cement steps in the dead of winter when she not quite three years old.

Elisabet is very fair and blond, so her scars don't show that much at a distance. But we are careful about sun. Scar tissue doesn't tan. You may want to talk to that nurse about your scars. I covered Elisabet's head scar for almost two years to protect it from the sun.

Elisabet has become quite the fashionista. Loves clothes, make-up and hairdos. And she's only nine years old!

Oh, Michael, you are such an inspiration! And by the number of comments left here, you know you have many friends from all over the world.

Best wishes & hugs,
Anna
