THIS IS A PUBLIC SERVICE MESSAGE FROM THE HEART ...

Hi Everyone...

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!

I know for many of us this day has special meaning. It's the one day a year dedicated to lovers. But over the years this holiday for sweethearts has taken an interesting turn. Because of commercialism there are now Valentine's greetings for your mom, dad, grandparents, kids, aunts, uncles, and even dogs and cats.

At first it used to bother me to see this. Why does EVERY holiday have to end up being ruined by over advertising, over selling, and frankly over KILL. This crassness ruins it for me and many others.

But today, as I'm thinking, what about all the people who don't have that special sweetheart, this holiday is often painful. It reminds many people about how alone they really are and how sad life can be without a special someone to share it with.

So, why not express love in alternative ways? What harm is it really. This DAY It is ALL ABOUT LOVE...

why not tell the special people in your life that you love them! Who cares if it's a family member or even your treasured pet. If it make you feel good... SHARE THE LOVE in any way you see fit.

Life is so hard and stressful. WE all need to slow down and take a breather and feel the warmth and love, no matter who it's from.

So, why not, for today, take a moment and hug someone. Share the love.

I'm sending a HUGE CYBER HUG out to all of you, my friends.

Today's weather forecast .... IT'S RAINING LOVE!

HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEKEND! I HOPE YOU ALL GET SOAKED!

Instead of being cynical, it's always best to see the good in things. Valentines is only commercial if you allow it to be. Great post!

You hit the nail on the head Michael about people on their own. My dear one passed away nearly 16 yrs ago. Of course he is missed without a doubt, one son and daughter have put me on the parent scrapeheap, haven't saw the so in 3 years and daughter in 2 years, I do have another son who do speak but he lives in Spain and haven't seen him in 2 years.I was hoping to visit but the weather is as bad there as it is here so will wait until the summer. You have a happy Valentine's day.

Happy Valentine's Day to you, too, Michael. Like Charlie Brown, I stare at an empty mail box on this day! :-)

Great post. To remember those who are hurting or who have become special to us in the past year is a perfect way to celebrate Valentine's Day.

May love, in all its aspects, touch you in special ways this whole year.

Love does come in all forms. Maybe just having a day to remind us that we should tell all the people we love that we do love them is a good thing. Embrace the goodness:)

I share your frustration about the overcommercialization of EVERY SINGLE SPECIAL day. So much so that they are no longer special but just annoying. Hugs back to you, Michael!

What a lovely sentiment Michael. We can celebrate love any day we wish to. Most of the world is single I read somewhere.

I'm sorry I caught you off guard with WEP posting mid month, but I did send out an email and it was clear on the sign up, sigh. But now you have several weeks to the next WEP , so we can look forward to more noir. Nice to see D.G' s piece!

Happy Valentine's my friend!

Love is a multi-dimensional concept.
It comes in many forms/shapes... we need to celebrate it in its entirety!
A Big Hug To You Too!
Hope you had a wonderful day!

Very true on both. I hate how holidays are all for making more and spending more money, but as a single person, it is fun to celebrate Valentine's Day with my family and my friends.
Hope you had a nice holiday

Valentine's Day is my anniversary and I love the holiday. I remember grade school days of making and exchanging cards. It was such fun - I see nothing wrong with a holiday dedicated to love - significant other or not - love is what makes the world go round - celebrate with LOVE! It doesn't take money - love doesn't cost a thing!

I do hope your Valentine's Day was lovely and filled with joy and love! Sending love, and hugs, and lots of kisses your way!

I admit, I have come to dislike Valentine's Day since I don't have a significant other. But I do have tons of people (and two very special animals) that I love dearly. Lots of people aren't that lucky. I should focus on that instead.
This is such a wonderful sentiment, Michael. Hope you had a happy Valentine's day and a great weekend.

Thank you Michael for the lovely cyber hug. Hugs back at you. I find Valentine's day a marketing tool where everything from cards to chocolates to flowers to dates are sold to lovers.

I agree! Definitely over-commercialized, but it has its place if it it makes people feel loved. :)
