First I would like to wish everyone who is entering in the Amazon ABNA contest the best of luck!
I entered last night just after midnight. YAY! I am so glad it's done.
I spent all day yesterday fine-tuning and formatting my entry. The biggest BIOTCH was the PITCH.
I felt like I was giving birth. Between the borderline anxiety attack and all the suggestions, I hope and pray I came up with a winning entry.
We certainly all will be waiting with bated breath for the results on February 24th.
NOW FOR SOMETHING A LOT MORE FUN! ALEX J. CAVANAUGH'S BLOGFEST!
Choose you favorite all time top ten songs. Talk about an anxiety attack. How on earth could a person pick only ten songs that mean so much to you. I have HUNDREDS!
My top ten songs have all brought some kind of special meaning to me. I could never choose them in order so here they in no particular order.
Madonna ..... There are countless number of her songs I love, but one makes me crazy .... FEVER
The Jets ..... I am a sucker for a good love ballad and this is one of my favorites .... ALL OVER HIM
Breathe .... An awesome Brit group who I loved and just faded away ...... HANDS TO HEAVEN
Dixie Midnight Riders .... I love the feel good words and melody of this song.. COME ON EILEEN
Mariah Carey ... I had just bought my first Aiwa CD mini stereo in 1990 for a whopping $750.00 INSANE. This CD was Mariah's first hit. I played this song TO DEATH ... VISION OF LOVE
Donna Summer .... This great song brought great dance music back in the early 90's WHEN LOVE TAKES OVER YOU
Nsync .... This boy band made the 80's the 80's! How could not love ..... TEARING UP MY HEART
Swing Out Sister ..... Another great group that disappeared after their second album .... BREAKOUT
Debbie Gibson .... yes, your reading right. Cheezy but oh so sweet ..... LOST IN YOUR EYES
Mariah Carey ..... once again made my top ten. Christmas would not be Christmas without ...... ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS YOU.
Well those are my top ten. I'm sure I surprised a lot of you, but I have varied taste in music. I can't wait to see your favorites. Don't forget to visit everyone on Alex's VERY extensive list.

ReplyDeleteGood luck with ABNA!
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome list of songs you've chosen. Mareh Carey and Donna Summer. Now don't laugh but I think I bought the same music system as you. It was a £650 Aiwa and I bought it in 1993. LOL.
My Top Ten Songs
Congratulations on getting your submission for ABNA done and best of wishes!
ReplyDeleteI listen to Debbie Gibson's 'Only in my Dreams' but she's cute, yes? And of course Christmas is not complete without Mariah's 'All I want for Christmas...' nice list! Music tells you a lot about a person!
Wow - absolutely the best for your ABNA submission!! ;)
ReplyDeleteAnd I love your songs - especially Fever and Breakout!
Have a lovely week.

I'm so glad you put that Jets song on. I've always loved that song!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on getting your entry in! I did too! Yay! Fingers crossed for both of us! Wouldn't it be great to meet up in NY for the final decision?
ReplyDeleteI will admit, more than a few of those songs surprised me! My favorites are more along the CCR and Dropkick Murphys lines. ;)
Wow, I like a lot of these and I love Hands to Heaven.

Pitching is an art unto itself. Best of luck! And I enjoy your music selections.
ReplyDeleteThis pitch really is SO HARD isn't it!? I think because it seems like it OUGHT to be easy, but so much rides on everything you do and don't include.
ReplyDeleteCome on Eileen! Oh, man! That reminds me SO MUCH of the early MTV days--I was in high school and that song just makes me happy!
I recognise 2 of those: All I want for Christmas and Come on Eileen. I was always terrible at songs in pub quizzes, though I do love music. :O)
ReplyDeleteVery well done in submitting for ABNA, fingers crossed. The Debbie Gibson fans are emerging! Good list.
ReplyDeleteGreat list! Oh, I love that song Hands to Heaven. I haven't heard it in forever.
ReplyDeleteGood luck to you!!!
You have some really awesome songs on this list!
ReplyDeleteFever! Love it!
ReplyDeleteAnd best of luck for the ABNA!! I just entered today... thanks to you! I hadn't even heard of it til I read your blog that day. You're right... the pitch was daunting. I just used my query. Took me like an hour to enter the darn thing... had to re-format my first 3k words and all... UGH!
Congrats on getting your ABNA entry in. You've worked so hard and I wish you all the best.
ReplyDeleteYou have some great songs on your list. Listen to them and chill while you wait to hear Amazon's results!
Best of luck on ABNA!! Keeping my fingers crossed that you get through every single round! :) And I can't BELIEVE I left Madonna off my list! I love Madonna... And Hands to Heaven, and Debbie Gibson. Picking only 10 is just too hard. Love your list!
ReplyDeleteI only recognise a few songs on your list.
ReplyDeleteBest of luck for your entry! Sounds like you worked hard enough for it!
Good luck with ABNA. I'm pulling for you. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat music too. I could never narrow it down to ten, though maybe if I tried. Hmmm
omg, I heart your list so much!! I met The Jets after they weren't so popular. LOVE. It was my first "famous" person meeting. Terrific.

ReplyDeletegotta say mariah carey is one talented lady! i used to love hero when i was in jr. high!
ReplyDeleteCome on Eileen - LOVE that song. I can't believe I forgot about it. The video was a bit creepy, though. Wasn't he singing to a girl pushing her baby in a stroller? I have to go watch it on You Tube now. Good list!
ReplyDeleteBest of luck on your entry- I will keep my fingers crossed for you.
ReplyDeleteDebbie Gibson- Oh my I haven't heard in since me and my sister danced on the front line to her music in like 4th grade- lol great list!
Love Madonna! She almost made my list. 10 is so hard!
ReplyDeleteI love most of your songs! Lost in Your Eyes almost made mine - so close.
ReplyDeleteBest Mariah album. And Vision of Love was my favorite on it, too.
Your tastes really are eclectic - love it!! Terrific songs on here - lots of great voices!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with ABNA!
Several songs that I remember and like. Although wasn't "Come On Eileen" done by Dexy's Midnite Runners (sp?)? This is a nicely varied list.

Good luck with the Amazon contest!
ReplyDeleteMadonna is def. a music icon.
And Come On Eileen makes me smile. It reminds me of junior high dances.
I like MCR's version of Mariah's All I Want for Xmas too.
I remember Nsync; I had such a crush on them. This is such a marvelous list.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you had this to help you get over your anxiety. Congrats of getting it posted; I still have some tweaking to do on the pitch, but I expect to enter it tomorrow.
Listening to great music on this blogfest is helping with the attacks of anxiety.
.........dhole
Awesome list! We must be around the same age becuase I remember listening to a bunch of those tunes!
ReplyDeleteI love some early N'Sync and Madonna :) You picked my absolute least favourite song of all time too - celtic fusion?! I haven't seen it anywhere else. ;)
ReplyDeleteGreat list, Michael! NSync, Madonna those are great. Crossing my fingers for you with ABNA!
ReplyDeleteI'm double commenting. For today's post: Congrats on the awards! And, don't pet my dog if you meet him. He's suuuuper cute, but unfriendly to anyone but immediate family members. Sorry. For THIS post: WAY TO GO! Best of luck to you, the hardest working writer I know. And, I now have Come On Eileen in my head. :0) christy
ReplyDeleteI didn't really start listening to my own music until junior high and I was trying to think of the exact right song that took me back to those days. I can't believe I forgot about Debbie Gibson.
ReplyDeleteFun list, I am taking a chance on some of the songs listed :D
ReplyDeleteCome on Eileen, I love that song. Good luck on your Amazon entry!
