FUN AND GAMES BLOGFEST! ANOTER GREAT FEST FROM ALEX j. CAVANAUGH ...

Hi, Everyone,

I hope you all had a FANTASTIC weekend! Chicago had some of it best weather this weekend so I was out and about enjoying the sunshine. That was mainly why I haven't been around lately. Sorry about that. But today is gray and gloomy so here I am. LOL.

Now for the Blogfest. My buddy Alex J. Cavanaugh is hosting another super fun blogfest ... name your THREE favorite games of all time! Below are mine, but don't forget to hop around to our other blogger friends! And PLEASE let me know what your favorites are.

MY all time FAVORITE is Parker Brothers Monopoly.... I started playing as a little kid and still love to play to this day! Buying and selling real estate ... adding houses and hotels .... and charging lots of money. WHAT FUN! I bet that is how Donald Trump started his obsession!

Another fav of mine is POKER. I started loving this classic card game when I was five. My parents played and watched them for hours mesmerized. I learned quickly from a related board game called Pokeno, another fun game.

My final choice would have to be RISK.... What a amazing game. How else could a kid rule the world! We found a mint condition game from the 1950's in the basement of the house my parents bought when I was ten. The pieces were made of actual wood! My brothers and I played for hours, days, and weeks, leaving the board set up and rushing back home after school to finish.

Of course there are many others that I love to play. Mostly board and card games. I never really got into playing with video games. I was too busy with school work, and my parents really didn't have to money to buy those expensive Nintendo games at the time. Then when I started to model and had the money I was just too busy keeping up with school and my career. So I guess I missed out on the craze.

Well I'm off to read my fellow bloggers games. Have a wonderful Monday everyone! See you tomorrow!

Well looky here little brother, monopoly! I always got Boardwalk and all the utilities :) Then it was off to build giant hotels. Ha ha bring back any memories? I still have my game but this one is in norwegian, now that is a rush!

I played Risk a lot as a kid!
Great choices, Michael. Thanks for participating in the blogfest.

Hey, I wonder if Trump ever did play Monopoly? Perhaps THAT game is what ended up providing us w/ the wonderful tower to meet under, eh?

Hey, you and Homer might get along after all -- Poker is his life. After fishing. And beer, hehe.

And THANK YOU for the reminder on Risk---I promised my son we'd buy it & play all summer. School ends tomorrow!!!

I loved Monopoly and still do! Interesting thought about Donald Trump...wonder if he actually got his start there.

Monopoly rocks! I can't believe I've never played Risk before. Everyone I know loves it.

I missed this fest but am enjoying reading chums' favourite games. This a great selection.

My older sister was a better cheat at Monopoly than me!

Monopoly is sure popular. What a fun blogfest.

My brother and I would play Risk for hours - I adored that game. Fabulous choices!

Hi, Michael! Just discovered your blog through the blogfest, it's great to meet you! I had forgotten all about Risk and I can't believe I did. My sister and I used to play that all the time, brings back fun memories!

I remember playing Castle Risk years ago. Don't think they even make that game anymore.

Power to you for enjoying Monopoly! I can't stand it. It is the one game that brings out the poor sport in me! LOL! RISK, now that I love! My all-time favorite game has to be Scrabble though.

You know, I've never ever played Risk. I don't know, that just seems wrong somehow. :) Love Monopoly, though! And I never got into the video game craze, either... Hope some more sunny weather comes your way!!

Wow, I love all three of the games you mentioned. I'm a shark at Monopoly, so we'll have to play sometime. Maybe at a conference one day? :D

You named some of my favorite games. I love playing monopoly and poker with my kids. I get to see who is the spendthrift and who likes to spend their money!

My little sis tended towards tantrums in monopoly, so that was always a bit limited, I don't know Risk at all, and my only memory of Poker was not knowing how to play, but winning a game out of sheer fluke (my poker face was actually my WTF is happening face!) I then spent the rest of the night losing money (and clothing) far too quickly... ah happy days :) great choices

My four year old grandson loves to play Angry Birds which my daughter downloaded onto my Droid. I don't think he wins but I'm not sure.

Yep Monopoly for me too, Michael.

I always liked card games too - 'fish,' 'whist,' and 'rummy.'

And drafts and backgammon.

One on one games were my thing.

All great games and I've played them all. I remember many hours spent playing Risk with my brothers and sister.

Monopoly! Yeay!! Great one. I heard Risk was good, but never played. I also hear the new app game of it for Ipod/Ipad is really good. And animated or something so might give it a try!

Hi Michael, what fun! Okay, I have to go with Monopoly, too (the original). Also Canasta. What ever happened to Canasta? And finally, Solitaire. As a self-respecting writer I must appreciate the seductive release of the imagination that comes from playing cards all by oneself!

Monopoly has to be my favourite. So many versions available now too.

I love Monopoly too. My absolute favorite game is Life though. :)

Aha! I could have included Risk. I love it. I think I would have loved poker, had I been exposed more regularly. It is one of those things that if you know what you're doing, looks great, but with the betting, it is risky and I know I know too little.

Risk is a game that always intrigued me, but we never had it in our house and I never knew anyone who had it (or if they did, invited me to play) so consequently I never played it. I would have probably liked it.

Great choices! Not a fan of Monopoly, for some reason I hated playing it as a kid. But I loved Clue and Trivial Pursuit. The hubs used to play epic Risk games that would last for days ;p

Monopoly is a classic and I love it. A friend of mine in middle school had an older brother and he taught us to play Risk. I loved it but they were the only people I knew who played, and I forgot how....but it was fun! World Domination, yeah!

Glad you've had some sunshine! It's been crazy here, but events and activities are getting checked off my list, so that's a great thing! I hope to be back maybe by next week. I feel so disconnected and this fest has been a great boost :)

Hope you're taking care of you!

When I was a kids we'd play Monopoly for days--literally. The same game. Now I'll only play if we do the short version. =D

I'm probably the world's worst poker player. I've only played a few times, but I'm terrible - way too conservative, terrible bluffer and I can never remember whether a straight is better than a full house and...

My son on the other hand, loves poker!

Alison Miller said...

Love poker - we have a group that tries to get together every so often, but Risk? My husband and I used to play - he's too brutal.

Monopoly is such a great, classic game.

Oh Monopoly!! Yes, I remember spending hours in the holidays with my family. Fun! ;-)

PK HREZO said...

Ah yes ... Monopoly. Spent hours at slumber parties vying for Park Place and the railroads. We used to call B&O railroad the body odor railroad. lol

And I almost added Risk to my list too. So much fun... but such a big commitment. If you didn't have hours upon hours, it wasn't worth starting.

Monopoly is a definite fave in this blogfest. It was also a fave in my home, growing up. My sisters, brothers, and I used to have marathons, especially during the winter months. All of us played to win--it would get brutal. :-)

There are a lot of games out there to choose from! I can't remember if I've ever played Risk...hmm. My husband and I are part of a Texas Hold 'em poker league (weird, I know), so I'd definitely have to list that as my favorite game right now. We have a Wii, but I never play it - missed the video craze, too, I guess (but my kids are on it daily if I let them).

Yay for Risk! I loved that game, though my favorite strategy of starting with the little continents didn't always work out so well.

Thanks for sharing!

I think need to play Risk. I never have, but it's on several lists and sounds like fun!

These were all great choices!!!

Agreed, ruling the world as a kid takes the cake.

LOVE your taglines on the blog. Art, music, design. Good stuff.
