A FRESH NEW LOOK FOR SPRING.... YES, I KNOW IT'S STILL WINTER!

This arrangement is a bit too tall for my teapot.

Although it's twenty degrees with a ten degree wind chill in Chicago, I decided we all need touch of spring. How do we do that, you ask?

Through flowers.

Fresh cut flowers can soothe the soul. (Yes, it's  a mini design tip.)

You will be smiling the moment you put them in your favorite vase or like me, if you want to be a bit more daring in a TEAPOT....

Many of you had visited my blog during Jen and Melissa's blogfest and commented on how beautiful the roses looked in, yes, the teapot.

Just imagine how expensive this unique arrangement would cost through Teleflora or FTD.

SO while you are out running around in the snow, stop off at your local grocery store or private shopping club , everyone has a Wholefoods, Costco or BJ'S .... they have stunning flowers. Jewel if you're in the midwest. Publix in Florida, Groger, in Atlanta, C foods in NY, Smiths in Vegas,  etc. If you're wondering, yes, I lived in all these places and then some.

They could be any flowers of your choice. You can even purchase a living plant. I actually have a blooming azalea in my living room right now.... Mother nature is amazing.

When at home think of a fun container to put them in. Something you would never think of using for flowers.... be creative. Spring is in the air!

Next, arrange them to your liking and place them in a place where you will see them to enjoy. On your writing desk, kitchen/dining table, entry/foyer, living room, family room, even bedroom if you spend a lot of time there. If you feel really SPRINGY make more than one!

Well everyone, give yourself a mid winter lift with a touch of spring! Let me here about your creative ways to add a touch of spring on a long winter's day.

Now on a more writerly note, I did this quick post because I needed a touch of spring and a break from my WIP ... HOWEVER ... I did achieve my goal of 50,000 words ..... But as of yet I need a few more thousand to wrap up the ending. So now I will go an write. Thanks everyone for all your cheers and support. I can use a few more to finish....

Yes, flowers can be very lovely no matter what the time of year.

No, up here in the Northwoods, we don't have any of those places you mentioned (I've heard of Costco, but none of the others).

Happy writing (and weekend)!

Congrats on reaching 50K! You'll have it wrapped up in no time. I'm sprucing up a novel for, guess what? ABNA! You've convinced me, I'm doing it. I'm not ready to even dream about spring yet though. Where I live we won't see it for another four months.

Hard to believe spring is anywhere. We are having a cold snap (really cold) and have to travel out of town for the Ice Crystal Ball.

Someone gave me an azalea once - took me no time at all to kill it dead.

I do much better with plants outdoors. I have a long wait.

You're right, Michael. The best place to start spring is in our homes and hearts. Congrats on making it to 50,000. And Heather, welcome to the fray. This is going to be such an adventure. Roland

Someday I will have enough money and vases for every room. Not only are flowers beautiful, they make everything smell good.

I sending all my warm thoughts in a teapot to you Michael. Editing is tough, but always worth it.

Congratulations!
And I usually get flowers for my wife on our anniversary, but that's it. Believe it or not, she's not a flower person. And she kills live plants.

The flowers are so pretty. So pretty, they brightened my day all the way over here.

I agree with this tip. I'm lucky and find plants blooming in my yard all year. I love our day lilies. Lilies and red sunflowers are my favorite.

Great job on the word count!

I love fresh tulips. Maybe because it's a sign of spring in Canada. Whenever they used to come on sale, I would buy a bunch.

You know what happens to flowers at my house? Teeth marks. Nice petals with kitty bites... then the vase gets knocked over and the water spilled... Plants are worse. Dirt gets dug. I had a cat once who thought it was a poo-for-all... I don't keep plants anymore, though I do CUT flowers, when they are free...

And GO GO GO on your progress!

Good luck on your next few thousand words! I'm just holding out till tulip season - and then I might have to steal your teapot idea. Hope you don't mind? :)
