THE A-Z CHALLENGE DAY I ... A IS FOR ...

HAPPY APRIL 1ST everyone!

As most of us know by now it is the first day of the A-Z Challenge!

I have visited several posts today and I am happy to say that it is in FULL SWING!

Thanks to the creator Arlee Bird, it started out a few years ago and is now over a thousand bloggers strong... Great work Lee!

And thanks to all of his blogger buddies who helped him pull this year's astounding numbers for the challenge.

Last year was my first year and I featured flash fiction riddles. Since it was such a success, I have decided to do it again this year.

Without further ado, here is my first post for the A-Z Challenge 2012. I hope you all enjoy it.

The incoming tide crashes as white foam collects on the pink sandy shore. A single white cloud streaks through azure blue skies on invisible wings.
Off in the distance a dot of gray moves swiftly toward the shore, slicing through the sky like the hull of a ship through the open seas.
As a massive expanse of wings soars by, the creature lands on the tallest mass of a creaking wooden vessel. Keen, intelligent eyes survey the scene, watching the dipping waves.

Foreseen by many mariners as the carrier of souls of their former comrades, this creatures follows ships and its presence warn sailors of imminent weather. Bad luck comes to those who kill it.

What can this wondrous be? Surely you know by now? The clues paint the perfect picture.
If you guessed the Albatross, you are correct?

If you have some time, please drop by Lee's blog and visit other participants ...

See you all tomorrow.

I'm fascinated by the albatross ever since I read The Ancient Mariner at school. I've included them in my first novel.

Great post Michael.

Beautiful photo. There was a film on the Nature Channel the other night that showed an Albatross learning to fly. It was amazing!
