MARCH MADNESS ... AND WHAT CAN BE LEARNED!

For those of you who don't know, March is my least favorite month. In the midwest temperatures can rise and fall 40 degrees in a sixteen hour time frame. Yes, that extreme. Residents of Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Minnesota, certainly can vouch for that.

Luckily this is my second year of escape. I have had the wonderful opportunity to escape the cold, damp, rainy weather of the north for the blue, sunny skies and tranquil warm breezes of Florida. I can't begin to tell you how that soothes the soul.

So much has happened this past month. Lots of new friends who joined my blogging family. For the first time since I've blogged, I've won many exciting books. I was involved in fun new blogfests that I really enjoyed and was able to challenge my writing. This was good practice with the A-Z challenge coming up.

My piers/friends have given me a variety of awards which mean the world to me ... and yes, I do pass them on In Time ... lol.

And the most exciting of all, I had made it through the first pitch of ABNA. No, I wasn't one of the talented few that became a quarter finalist, but two wonderful friends and writer's did: Hart Johnson and Elena Solodow.

Like last year I did learn something from this year's experience, even with good reviews many of us still didn't have the right magic to move on. It's not our time, but there is always something better just around the corner.

So, for once, I enjoyed this crazy month. Of course, we still have another week or so for more unexpected surprises.

This is also the month for tons and I mean tons of blogfests, contests, and meeting new bloggers from around the world. Check out my sidebar for what's still happening. But I would like to highlight a terrific blogger and friend. Tony Benson from Fireside Park is giving away a few amazing books and is shy a few new friends to reach his 200 mark.

If you're not familiar with Tony, hop on over and introduce yourself. He is an exciting fantasy/science fiction writer who makes you feel right a home. He is married to the lovely Margo,  a sweeter person you could never meet. Imagine having two dynamic writers in one household. So make sure you meet the Tony and Margo, you'll be happy that you did.

As a final note on MARCH 30th don't forget to sign up from my HP blogfest. Click onto Ron, Harry, and Hermione on the top left and be whisked away to sign up.

Have a GREAT Thursday everyone!

I'm glad to know you can still remain warm even if Chicago is chilly this time of year!! I'm thankful I got out of Iowa 3 years ago, winters in Houston are so much more fun :)

Those soft warm breezes sound pretty wonderful, Michael. So glad you got out of Chicago this March! (Did I ever tell you I've lived in Chicago THREE times?? Last time was for fourteen years! I do not miss the weather there.) Congrats on getting through the first round of ABNA. That is something to be proud of!

So glad you could escape for awhile, Michael. Now you know what it's like is Saskatchewan. This is why I suffer with migraines at this time of year. Up and down drastic dips in barometric pressure. This year has been a doozy Jan, Feb & Mar all sucked. April should be better. I hope.

I need to visit Florida. If anything, I can go and stare at all the eye candy down at the beaches.

Florida isn't that far from me, I wish I could holiday there. It is pretty cold here in Canada but the snow has melted hoorah!

Tony seems really nice, it was great to stumble across his blog.

March was crazy for blogfests! I had so many on my blogfest page- I was worried about not catching them all. I wish I could have participated in more- but school keeps me busy.

Atleast you got through the first round of ABNA- that is something to pat yourself on the back for- You put yourself out there and that is an amazing thing to do.

You're warm. You're going to meet a blog friend face to face. You have many blog friends supporting you. And you have Hibbs in your corner. (The cub thinks that last is the most important! Cubs.)

My new year months have been made richer because of your friendship, Michael. May nothing but good things be in store for you the rest of this year! Roland

I'm so sorry you didn't make it into the next round of ABNA Michael. :( I was really rooting for you. Don't forget, there is still a week left to enter the Gatekeeper contest though!

Happy to hear you are having a blast in Florida! Missouri weather is the same- we had 80 degrees on Monday, and last night is was 35 degrees and today it's only in the 40's. SO crazy.

I'm glad to hear you're enjoying Florida! :)

There has been a lot going this month! Blogfests, Crusades, people to meet . . . but it is fun.

Hi Michael. Happy March Madness :-) Thank you so much for your kind comments about us, and for mentioning my 200 follower giveaway. Good luck with your entry.

I've only been to Florida once, but it was a great trip. I did some fantastic freshwater scuba diving and a bit of touring. I also met some manatees - beautiful souls. Glad you're having a good time there.

So sorry to hear you didn't get into the quarter finals of ABNA. We had our fingers crossed for you.

The HP blogfest is a fun idea. I'm signed up and ready :-)

I'm glad you're in sunny Florida, basking in the warmth. Me? I'm glad it's still cool here!

You're right, March is crazy to the max. I'll be glad when it's over.

Love your attitude about ABNA; that is going to be one reason you really succeed. You have a good heart!

Happy Friday :)

The soft warmth of Florida... I'm jealous! The damp cold of Devon, uk... that's where I'm at - though the sun has been out this past few days and my garden's waking up. Just wanted to say that as a newbie, your warm presence in the blogosphere has been a lovely one - thanks, and I look forward to stalking you remorselessly in the months to come :)

I'm sorry that your weren't picked to move on with ABNA. I hope you are pleased that you did get as far as you did. There's always next year.

Where I live we have major jump and drops in temps too. We actually still have some snow. I wish I could be some place warm right about now. Enjoy it!!

I'd like to bottle your enthusiasm, Michael. It is a rare gift. Next year will be better. Start writing your ABNA entry now so you have time to polish it and hire an editor. I know several.

Hey Michael, I'm having a great Friday here, all set to do a few hours teaching then to start enjoying my very warm (30 C) weekend. We are praying for cool weather. Summer's been long, hot and disastrous. At times I dream of snow, hmmmm.

Anyways, as Nancy says, get that ABNA entry polished for next March. No time to waste!

As you know I've been trying to cut back a little and that includes being very choosy with blogfests. You know I'm a great supporter of yours, but HP is not my thing, so I'd make a fool of myself. I know you'll have plenty of supporters of HP to join up. I'll be around reading entries of course!
